Allison Skewes

Allison played soccer from ages 6 until 14 and that was the extent of her athleticism. Later in life she was at the gym and saw a sign up list for a small group reformer class and signed up, even though she wasn't sure exactly what it was or if she could do it, but she thought she had finally lost enough weight to try it.

Fast forward a few years and she loved Pilates so much she decided to sign up for comprehensive teacher training with her local studio, although she wasn't sure she wanted to teach, because she didn't think she looked how a Pilates teacher should.

While completing her comprehensive teacher training, she realized that representation was important, and she wanted to show up for all the other people who thought their bodies weren't Pilates bodies, and that's what she is doing today. Allison is a candidate for an Advanced Specialist diploma through Body Harmonics in Functional Anatomy and Biomechanics and lives in Mountain View, California. She has contributed to articles for SELF and Pilates Anytime.
